Our History

Harold S. Long, a World War II veteran, founded Valley Machine and Welding as a backyard shop in Georgia. Soon after, Long partnered with Hubert Loveless and Pettus Guinn and they moved the business to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to service the local market. In 1983, Long became the principle owner of Valley Machine until his death in 2007.

In 2003, Long’s son-in-law, Clark Werner, became president and CEO. That set the stage to expand the company’s reach regionally to customers throughout the eastern United States and beyond.

When Werner retired in 2019, two manufacturing professionals purchased the business and changed the company name to Valley Machine LLC. This ownership change infused high-volume business experience into Valley Machine to fuel growth and increase efficiency while maintaining its tools in personalized, expert services. The company continues to invest in new equipment and technology to maximize performance and capabilities.

In March 2023, Valley Machine proudly joined the SSAB Hardox® Wearparts network.

Although the owners and leaders have changed over the years, the company’s commitment to exceptional quality and high service standards has remained steadfast. As a testament to the trusted relationships we’ve built, Valley Machine has maintained many of our core business customers over the past 60 years.

Today, Valley Machine has evolved into a modern, efficient custom fabrication and welding company. With attentive customer service balanced by industry-leading capabilities, we deliver on-time, high-quality custom work for all your fabrication and machining needs.
